Anne has developed womanly curves
Anne was able to get into her skirt and blouse, for she hadn't grown any taller, but they hugged her body in ways they hadn't before and made her quite uncomfortable. She'd seen women wearing these sorts of things before and while they did look quite glamorous, in dresses of a proper cut, Anne could never imagine dressing herself quite so provocatively. Still, she hadn't really any choice in the matter until she went up to the compound to get some new clothes, so she did just that.
She felt she did not go unnoticed on her way there, though perhaps that was just her overactive imagination; in actual fact, most of the people she passed on her way were quite young, like Ray and Constable Fraser and Horatio had been. She did wonder in passing who they might be, and whether she knew them or not, but she kept her goal firmly in mind. Once she was properly dressed again, then she could concern herself with the other matters at hand.

He paused briefly when he noticed how there seemed to be more kids today than he had ever seen before. Had an orphanage just crash-landed on the beach or something?
That was when he noticed-- He didn't want to leap to any conclusions. Hell, the world had plenty of red-haired women but either this was one of those clones like Stanley had or Anne had grown up overnight.
He had never thought of Anne in anything outside of brotherly terms but she had totally gotten much hotter if option 2 was what was going on here. Seemed possible. Island had frickin' dinosaurs, for crying outloud. Not to mention the fact that Ray was pretty sure he'd gone hunting for Cthulu with Brennan and he had definitely spent the better part of a weekend watering people in comas.
Only one way to find out for sure though. Vecchio walked over to the familiar strange woman --since they were heading in the same direction anyway-- and waved. "Hello."

Ugh, Stanley was one of the children of the damned? He was probably running around with his underwear on his head if not entirely naked. Great. Ray would worry about that later.
"As for how you look, you look fine. A little older but a lot like yourself." She looked very pretty too but he wasn't exactly comfortable saying so. Maybe it was because she was Canadian.

Anne felt her face again, as though that would tell her what she now looked like; she already well knew the changes that the island had wrought in the rest of her body.
"Oh Ray, I desperately need to find some new clothing. Not as desperately as the other Ray, of course, for at least I have something that I can wear, but this is no longer decent at all."

As far as clothes went, seeing as Anne was close to falling out of what she was wearing... Yeah. He gently patted her shoulder. Ray wasn't checking her out because she was like a sister but yeah. New clothes. Stat.
"It'll be okay. There's got to be something in the laundry room. I'll go with you." Turnbull's paperclips weren't going anywhere.

"I imagine there are a great many people who are going to be looking for new clothes today," said Anne, hurrying along now with Ray at her side. "I do hope we've either beaten the rush, or missed it entirely."
no subject
"Well, most of them are little now, right? They might not be in any particular hurry."
Kids never seemed to like clothes or baths for that matter. Until the magical day when they did and then suddenly you were always buying them clothes and there was a constant war for use of the bathroom. Go figure.

It seemed there would be no struggle to find herself some decent clothing, or at least, no struggle with any other person. Anne had been involved in enough struggles of will with the clothing box that she knew her task might not be an easy one regardless.

He held the door to the compound open for Anne once they got there. "Hopefully the weekend will pass by relatively quickly, huh?"

Either way, Vecchio would have to move. He didn't think he really wanted to be responsible for taking care of Benny and Kowalski while they grew up. Again.
"Did anything happen to Diefenbaker?"

But Vecchio was a guy. He was not moved by this. He was a rock. Yeah right. Maybe it was okay though. Benny was like his brother and Dief was his brother's wolf. He was allowed to have an emotional attachment to Diefenbaker since he had one to the Mountie. He was allowed to be sad and the tiniest bit pissed off that the island was messing with them yet again.
He swallowed hard and lead the way down to the laundry room. "Uh, that's...cool. I'll have to find them later."

Anne knelt down next to the clothing as soon as she spotted it, and began to try to find something that would be appropriate for her to wear, for what she hoped would only be the next couple of days.

The reason he treated Benny different and teased him considerably less was Fraser took everything personally. It wasn't fun, it was mean. Same with Billy. But Kowalski seemed to get it and usually was cruel right back.
"I'll be nice and I won't make them cry." It would be too easy if they were little. "This isn't Stanley's fault, anyway."

She found a blouse of a rather awful shade of red and held it up. It looked as thought it would fit properly, but she wasn't at all sure she wanted to wear it.

Ray made a face when she held up the red blouse. "No way. There's gotta be something else in there."
no subject
She was happy to discard the red blouse and dig a little deeper. Surely there would be something; perhaps Ray would have more luck.

Ray crouched down and dug through the box until he pulled out a pale blue blouse. It was less hideous than the red one. "How about this?"
no subject
"I think that will do nicely," she said finally, and took it from him with a grateful smile. "Now for a new skirt, or trousers if that's all we manage to find. I'm certainly not particular, today."
no subject
"Do either of these work?"
no subject
"Um..." she said, and found herself in one of those rare occasions where she was at a loss for words.
no subject
"Maybe you ought to go back to looking?"

She finally pulled out a rather flimsy looking brassiere that she thought might be adequate, and tucked it away with the rest of the clothing they'd found.
