Anne Shirley is a young lady of sixteen, as educated as a Canadian girl her age can be, and preparing for her life as an adult. Having spent her youngest years in a series of loveless homes, including an orphan asylum, Anne found a home with Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert at the age of eleven and blossomed under their care, though she was always an optimistic, vivacious and imaginative girl (and in those ways has changed very little). Anne has grown into an attractive, if not beautiful, young lady, and though still a redhead (a fact which she has not entirely reconciled herself with) the kind now call her hair auburn.

Matthew's recent death has left a hole in Anne's heart, but she has many friends now to comfort her, and she has chosen to remain in Avonlea with Marilla.


Anne Shirley arrives on Tabula Rasa shortly following Anne of Green Gables, the first novel in a series depicting her adventures. At this point in time, she is sixteen years of age and preparing to take the position of teacher at the Avonlea school.
